This campaign is about proud, young and successful South African who are a brand unlike any in the world, a blend of optimism and potential that resounds in a call to greatness. The question for the future lies in how that call in answered.
We intended to highlight the opportunities that exist for young South Africans within our borders, while telling the stories of young, successful South African’s who act as ambassadors within this campaign. It’s a campaign that carries a broader endorsement of the youth and the potential that abounds from Cape Town to Bela Bela and Majiesfontein to Nelspruit.
Allow me to quote American Investment guru, John Maudlin who was CEO of the American Bureau of Economic Research. He commented “There is much to like about emerging markets. That is where a great deal of the real potential growth in the coming decades will be. And South Africa will be one of the better stories. If you are not doing business there already, you should ask yourself, why not?”
As a young South African I personally take pleasure as this sentiment becomes prevalent in the debate on where the worlds focus is shifting. I am part of a group of young South Africans that are ready and waiting in the wings to capatalise and succeed in this economic revolution.
Alright sure, foreign pastures sometimes seem greener but the UK and Canada are pretty cold and Australia is, well full of Australians. Sarah Palin scares me a little as does the entire state of Texas. Baseball,Basketball and American Football are only really cool in the movies and I have never seen a rugby game in New Zealand where it’s not raining. I have no desire to have to kiss everybody I greet on the cheek in Europe either. Don’t get me wrong, this is not on crusade against the young amongst us who have gone abroad in search of opportunities, we certainly welcome you back with acquired skill and a worldly perspective that will be greatly needed in the above mentioned “economic revolution”. However this is rather a celebration and an endorsement of those who have found and will continue to find opportunities here.
It’s better to light one small candle, than to curse in the darkness - Chinese proverb.
